I’m slightly intimidated that so many people have signed up to read something that’s not yet written but will be, week by week, over the coming months. So, I want to assure you that I won’t be winging it, nor do I expect to run out of steam after three weeks.
Before committing to this, I spent a good bit of time harvesting from my brain around two hundred insights, concepts and nuggets that I thought were worthy of note. These range across a few themes that I’ll be digging into.
So that you know what to expect, here are some examples of what I’ll be covering.
Market research, context and strategy.
Various business model disruptions and the waves to be ridden.
The principle that bits are easier to sell and move than atoms.
Developing a vision for and the conception of your product or service.
Market seeding and product market fit.
Product marketing and feature prioritisation.
The importance of an integrated customer experience.
Sales, marketing and finding your first customers and beyond.
Building brand, trust and community.
Understanding and dealing with the competitor landscape.
Dealing with external stakeholders; press, analysts and investors.
Hiring, managing and leading people through the different stages of growth.
Building and developing your people management skills and capabilities.
The different personas and roles you’ll learn to play as a leader.
Developing, building and nurturing culture, creating durable goals.
Organisational development, re-orgs and sometimes resets.
The supreme importance of communications, internal and external.
Business development and partnering.
Learning to see around corners and anticipate change.
As we go, I’ll also be happy to respond to feedback or requests for specific areas or topics I haven’t covered, and I’ll do my best to address these as we go.
I suppose I had better get on with some writing.
See you next week.
